In a setting of tranquil beauty, Kielder Water and Forest captures the mood of Northumberland - a place where you can escape the trials of everyday life and experience tranquility in a stunning environment. Kielder offers a wealth of choice of activities such as cycling, fishing, water skiing, sailing, walking or just simply relaxing.

Wildlife - Kielder is home to a fabulous array of animals and plants, some very rare. The Red Squirrel and Otter are both residents in Kielder. Red Squirrels prefer particular types of conifer seed so this is taken into account during forest planning to ensure a steady food supply. Similarly, much has been done to help the Otter, including construction of artificial holts and restocking waterways with their favourite snack-eels! More information about the wildlife and conservation can be found at Kielder Castle and Tower Knowe Visitor Centre.

Kielder Castle - where you will find the Kielder Forest and Birds of Kielder exhibi- tions, guided walks, forest drive, children's adventure playground, picnic sites, minotaur maze, bike hire, coffee shop and pub/restaurant.

Leaplish Waterside Park - facilities include: indoor heated swimming pool, Kielder Water Ferry, Birds of Prey Centre, Miniature Golf, Walks and Cycling Routes, Play Area, Restaurant and Bar.

The village of Otterburn, within Wild Redesdale, is home to Otterburn Mill, which houses a shop, exhibition centre, Tourist Information Centre and tea rooms.

Mountain Biking, Deadwater mountain bike Track runs alongside Lightpipes boundries.

Fishing - A fishermans paradise only 10 minutes away at Kielder Water and other great fishing spots.

Observatory - an astronomical observatory on Black Fell, a hill close to the Scottish border and overlooking Kielder village in Northumberland. Taking advantage of the area’s lack of light and air pollution and help to evolve the current use of Kielder by astronomers, enabling more people to develop their interest in astronomy throughout the full course of the year
